Moroccan King Mohammed VI has strongly condemned the escalating attacks by Houthi militias against Saudi Arabia, describing the ongoing strikes on civilian areas, economic facilities, and holy sites in Makkah and Madinah as a flagrant violation of international law. In official cables addressed to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Moroccan monarch pledged absolute solidarity with Riyadh at a critical juncture for regional stability.
Emphasizing the deep strategic ties between the two nations, King Mohammed VI stated that the security of Saudi Arabia and the broader Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is an integral part of Morocco’s own national security. He warned that the actions of the Houthi militias, along with their regional financial and military backers, threaten vital global maritime routes and explicitly violate UN Security Council Resolutions 2216 and 2722, demanding international accountability for the continued aggression.
