Tanker off Saudi Arabia catches fire after strike by unknown projectile

A tanker caught fire off the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia after being struck by an “unknown projectile,” according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The incident occurred 63 nautical miles west of the Saudi city of Yanbu on Monday, August 24, 2026. All crew members are reported safe and accounted for, with no environmental impact immediately reported.
