The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced the execution of a Saudi national on Sunday, October 18, for the murder of her mother and the attempted murder of her sister.
According to court documents, Sahar bint Faisal bin Fayyad Al-Hanini Al-Harbi shot and killed her mother, Amal bint Tulaihan bin Sa’noun Al-Harbi, and desecrated the body. The crime occurred in the central Al-Qassim region. During the same incident, the defendant also attempted to kill her sister.
The execution was carried out after a royal order enforced the death penalty, which had been upheld by the Supreme Court following an appeal. The Ministry stated the punishment was applied under Islamic law due to the severity of the offense.
This follows a series of recent death penalties carried out in the Kingdom. On Saturday, five Saudi nationals were executed on terrorism charges, and on October 15, two Bangladeshi nationals were executed for offenses committed inside a mosque in Makkah.
