GCC summit: Gulf leaders meet in Jeddah amid fragile truce

JEDDAH – Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council have convened for their first in-person summit since the region became a target in the war on Iran.
All six member states suffered missile and drone strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure prior to the April 8 ceasefire. While the truce has brought a lull in direct attacks, the summit opens under a shadow of high tension as diplomatic efforts for a permanent settlement remain deadlocked.
