The Islamic world is mourning the loss of Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani, a revered muezzin at Makkah’s Grand Mosque, who passed away in the early hours of Monday at the age of 50. In a deeply moving conclusion to his decades of religious service, Sheikh Ibrahim delivered his final call to prayer for the first Fajr adhan just hours before his death.
Born in Madinah in 1976 and formally appointed to Masjid Al Haram in 2017, he was widely admired for a resonant voice that beautifully bridged the distinctive Makkan and Madinan styles of the adhan.
Funeral prayers will be held after Asr congregations at the Grand Mosque today, followed by his burial at Al Mualla Cemetery, as worshippers gather to honor a lifelong dedication to faith that began when he first became a neighborhood muezzin at the age of 15.
