UAE and Qatar sign landmark data protection agreement to secure joint electronic security projects

In a major leap forward for regional cybersecurity and law enforcement, the Ministries of Interior of the UAE and Qatar have signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding to secure data across joint security projects on 17th June, 2026. The agreement, formalized in Doha by UAE Undersecretary Major General Khalifa Harib Al Khaili and his Qatari counterpart Abdullah bin Khalaf bin Hattab Al Kaabi, encompasses six critical initiatives. These include integrated electronic systems for tracking traffic violations, financial recoveries, and the secure exchange of biometric deportee data. The MoU represents a sophisticated integration of modern technology and cross-border cooperation, aimed at fortifying the stability and safety of the entire GCC region.
