Iran and Oman are in the final stages of agreeing on a new temporary maritime traffic arrangement for the Strait of Hormuz. The proposed deal aims to establish agreed-upon geographical coordinates for inbound and outbound shipping lanes, with inbound ships largely using Iranian territorial waters and outbound vessels passing through an Oman-controlled lane.
The agreement, expected to last initially for two to four months, is seen as a step toward managing maritime traffic and security, though Iranian officials stressed it does not represent a full reopening of the strait.
