Kuwait sees decline in kidnapping, rape, and honor-related crimes in first half of 2026

Kuwait’s Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait announced a significant drop in severe crimes during the first half of 2026, with kidnapping cases falling by 45.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Reported on August 17, 2026, statistics also showed a 28 percent decline in honor-related crimes and a 50 percent drop in cases of rape by force or threat. Al-Sumait attributed the positive indicators to legislative reforms, enhanced penal systems, and stronger legal protections for vulnerable groups in society.
