Joint operations between the UAE’s National Anti-Narcotics Agency and the General Directorate of Port Security have successfully thwarted 14 attempts to smuggle narcotics through airport transit areas. Over the past two months, authorities have seized more than 300 kilograms of illegal drugs, apprehending smugglers of various European and Asian nationalities.

The successful interceptions were the result of robust international intelligence cooperation, which allowed UAE agencies to track suspicious consignments and travel routes before they even reached the country. Utilizing advanced sensing technologies and smart screening systems, customs officials were able to identify concealed substances with high accuracy and speed, often without the need for manual inspections.

The National Anti-Narcotics Agency emphasized that advanced data analytics played a crucial role in identifying unusual patterns in passenger and cargo movements. This proactive, integrated security framework reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to combating cross-border crime and ensuring its global transit hubs are not exploited by international drug trafficking networks.
