UAE rain alert: Showers hit Sharjah, hail falls on roads to Fujairah as police urge caution

Showers began falling in parts of the UAE on Tuesday afternoon, with heavy rain pouring over Fili in Sharjah’s central region.

Parts of the eastern UAE were also hit by hail. Large hailstones pelted Kadra Road and Sheikh Khalifa Street, the route leading to Fujairah. Motorists heading towards the east coast have been advised to drive slowly and pull over if visibility drops.

Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to take extra care in the wet conditions and follow the variable speed limits displayed on electronic boards.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a yellow alert from 2pm to 9pm on Tuesday for convective cloud formation across the east—from Al Ain towards Fujairah—and in Al Dhafra. A flash flood alert was also issued for mountain areas, warning residents to stay away from wadis and valleys where water can rise quickly.
