Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has issued an urgent warning to fishermen and seafarers regarding floating hazardous containers off the coast of Musandam.

The advisory follows the sinking of the container ship GFS PRIDE near Ras Al Sheikh Masoud on October 14. The incident has left several containers adrift in the maritime area, some of which are confirmed to be carrying hazardous materials.

The Ministry strongly advised maritime operators and the public against approaching or handling the drifting cargo. Anyone who spots the floating containers is urged to report them immediately by calling 7211134.

Authorities are actively monitoring the situation and coordinating recovery operations to ensure environmental and public safety.
