The UAE’s Military Attorney General has referred several military employees and recruits to court over charges of abusing their positions to help individuals illegally bypass national service.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the charges include forging official data, manipulating medical reports, and tampering with proof of national and reserve service performance. The accused allegedly used these fabricated records to secure undeserved exemptions for certain recruits, enabling them to evade their mandatory service procedures.
The Ministry emphasized that all public employees and recruits involved in the scheme will face the military judiciary. The Military Attorney General issued a stern warning, stating that anyone proven to be involved in illegally bypassing service or exploiting their position to facilitate such evasion will be held fully accountable. While the exact number of defendants was not specified, an image released by the authority showed three individuals—two men and one woman—facing charges.
Reaffirming the importance of the draft, the UAE Military Attorney General stated, “National service is a duty, an honor, and a responsibility toward the homeland; safeguarding the integrity of its procedures strengthens justice and equality, and protects national obligations from any transgression or exploitation.”
