Bahrain task force gets new judicial powers to fight tax evasion

A major task force comprising 65 officials from Bahrain’s National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) has been granted judicial enforcement powers to combat tax evasion.

The move, published in the Official Gazette on August 17, 2026, aims to strengthen compliance with Value-Added Tax (VAT), excise duties, and taxes imposed on multinational enterprises. The expansion of enforcement capabilities grants officials greater authority to investigate suspected financial offences across the Kingdom.
