The Strategic-Political and Defense Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defense held an emergency meeting in Riyadh on Monday, resulting in the immediate activation of collective defense commitments between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye.
During the summit, the three allied nations resolved to swiftly deploy agreed-upon military forces and capabilities within Saudi Arabia. The decisive move aims to strengthen military integration and reinforce the collective capacity to confront ongoing threats, following strong condemnation of attempted attacks targeting Makkah, Madinah, and various civilian and economic facilities across the Kingdom.
The committee reaffirmed that an attack on one member is a threat to all, emphasizing that the security of each party is an integral part of their collective defense. Furthermore, as part of the alliance’s institutional development, the committee appointed retired Pakistani Lt. Gen. Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary General of the Makkah Alliance for a three-year term.
