Oman stops issuing and renewing work permits for expatriates above 60

The Sultanate of Oman has reversed a 2022 policy, ceasing the issuance and renewal of work permits for expatriate workers aged 60 and above.

Employers have reported rejections of renewal applications in recent weeks, a move that has been confirmed by senior officials. The policy change is expected to significantly impact long-serving foreign workers in the private sector who were previously eligible for residency renewals.
