Oman suspends paragliding activities nationwide following fatal Dhofar accident

The Oman Air Sports Committee (OASC) announced on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the immediate suspension of all paragliding and gliding activities across the Sultanate until further notice.

The decision follows a tragic accident in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate, that claimed the lives of Captain Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Kalbani and his sister. Authorities urged all practitioners, clubs, and air-sports enthusiasts to strictly comply with the temporary suspension to ensure public safety and adherence to national regulatory frameworks.
