The Oman Air Sports Committee (OASC) announced on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the immediate suspension of all paragliding and gliding activities across the Sultanate until further notice.
The decision follows a tragic accident in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate, that claimed the lives of Captain Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Kalbani and his sister. Authorities urged all practitioners, clubs, and air-sports enthusiasts to strictly comply with the temporary suspension to ensure public safety and adherence to national regulatory frameworks.
