Qatar Stock Exchange general index opens lower under pressure from multiple sectors

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index dropped by 21.83 points, or 0.22 percent, at the start of trading on August 20, 2026, falling to 9,751 points under downward pressure from five major sectors.

Market data indicated declines in banking, financial services, insurance, real estate, industrials, and transportation. However, telecommunications and consumer goods sectors posted early gains. Initial trading turnover stood at QR 41.564 million, with over 20 million shares exchanged in the early hours.
