The UAE Public Prosecution has officially expanded its legal investigation into a false media report that erroneously claimed explosions were heard in central Dubai. Counsellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney-General of the UAE, confirmed that the responsible news agency’s subsequent retraction and apology will not halt the inquiry.

Investigators have questioned the reporter and summoned editors involved in approving the story to evaluate their compliance with mandatory verification standards. Authorities are taking these stringent measures to ensure legal accountability and prevent the spread of public misinformation.
