Qatar stands with Saudi Arabia in condemning Houthi maritime blockade threats

The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the recent declaration by Yemen’s Houthi movement to impose a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The Qatari Foreign Ministry emphasized that freedom of navigation in international waterways remains a fundamental principle of international law.

The diplomatic response follows a Houthi announcement claiming they would ban Saudi-flagged and Saudi-bound shipping from the 32-kilometer chokepoint. Qatar reiterated its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, stating that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the stability of the entire Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
