Saudi Arabia has officially signed four storage service agreements for the first group of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, boasting a combined capacity of 2,000 megawatts for four-hour durations.
Supervised by the Ministry of Energy, the projects involve a total investment exceeding SAR 4.35 billion (approximately USD 1.16 billion). The initiative aims to enhance the reliability of the national power grid and support the Kingdom’s goal of achieving a 50 percent renewable energy generation mix by 2030.
