UAE forecasts dense fog until Tuesday as NCM issues visibility warnings

The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather advisory warning of dense fog and mist across coastal and western inland areas until Tuesday, October 13.

The reduced visibility conditions are expected to develop primarily between midnight and the early morning hours. According to the NCM, horizontal visibility could fall below one kilometre and potentially reach zero in select regions before gradually clearing after sunrise. Authorities urged motorists to exercise caution, adhere to reduced speed limits, and track official weather bulletins.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, stated that the seasonal shift makes October, November, and March particularly prone to dense fog, with each month averaging over 12 foggy days. The meteorological center attributed the phenomenon to radiation fog, caused by overnight cooling combined with high humidity and light surface winds.
