Bahrain: Stricter Driving License Conditions for Expatriates

Bahrain’s Parliament has passed new amendments to the Traffic Law that specifically target expatriate drivers. The new rules link the validity of driving licenses directly to the holder’s residency permit status. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Labour has increased foreign labor fees for private-sector companies as part of the “Bahrainisation” initiative, intended to balance the cost of hiring and encourage the employment of local nationals.
