Oman and Iran establish joint working group on future management of the Strait of Hormuz

Following talks in Muscat, Oman and Iran have agreed to form a joint working group to negotiate the future management and safe navigation of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi emphasized the Sultanate’s commitment to international law and ‘toll-free’ safe passage during discussions with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The new working group aims to establish international standard services and associated costs for the critical waterway in light of recent geopolitical developments.
