Qatar: At the UN, Qatar Champions Freedom of Navigation in Global Waterways

Speaking at the UN Security Council, HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Qatar’s Permanent Representative, emphasized that freedom of navigation is a “fundamental principle of international law” that must be protected. Qatar called for serious dialogue and adherence to legal frameworks to resolve maritime crises, specifically citing the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
