Qatar’s Ministry of Transport has completed the initial phase of operational trials for autonomous electric taxis, marking a significant milestone in its AI-driven Transport Master Plan 2050. The testing evaluated vehicle performance, regulatory compliance, traffic integration, and infrastructure readiness under local conditions.
The pilot initiative aims to build a modern, sustainable public transit network by integrating self-driving electric vehicles into Qatar’s existing infrastructure. The Ministry confirmed that future testing phases will focus on expanding operational zones and refining safety standards ahead of commercial deployment.
