Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey formally signed a trilateral mutual defence pact, known as the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, in Mecca on August 7, 2026.
Signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the pact establishes a collective defence arrangement. The agreement outlines that an armed attack against any of the three states will be treated as an attack against all three, strengthening collective deterrence and regional security cooperation.
