The UAE will take whatever measures are necessary to protect its sovereignty, national security, and people if Iran launches further attacks, a senior Emirati official said on Thursday.

Speaking at the UAE Correspondents’ Majlis in Dubai, Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council (FNC), was pressed on whether the Emirates would respond to any future Iranian aggression. His response was unequivocal: “Everything.”

Dr Al Nuaimi noted that the UAE has faced successive waves of missile and drone attacks targeting civilian areas and infrastructure since the conflict began in late February. However, he stated he does not expect the war to drag on for years like the Russia-Ukraine conflict, predicting it could conclude before the close of 2026.

While emphasizing that the UAE has consistently favored a political and diplomatic solution, Dr Al Nuaimi stressed that rebuilding trust with Tehran requires genuine changes and concrete initiatives from the Iranian leadership.
