Dubai Police have arrested an eight-member gang involved in a fraudulent scheme that provided fake foreign driving licences to customers for Dh10,000.
The suspects exploited international exchange agreements, offering to secure driving licences from a neighbouring country without requiring the customer to travel, take lessons, or pass mandatory tests. These fraudulently obtained documents were then intended to be exchanged for official UAE driving licences through Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The arrests were carried out by Dubai Police’s General Department of Criminal Investigation, in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the RTA. Authorities discovered the gang was using the offices of local transaction processing companies to promote their illicit services.
Dubai Police issued a stern warning that anyone knowingly paying for and using these illegal services faces criminal liability. Officials emphasized that bypassing essential training and testing procedures puts unqualified drivers on public roads, posing a severe threat to traffic safety.
