Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy intercepted and turned back six commercial vessels attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday night. State media reported that the vessels were stopped with warning shots for allegedly using transit routes not approved by Iranian authorities.
The incident marks a continuation of heightened maritime confrontations in the strategic waterway. Iran has effectively blockaded segments of the Strait since late February amid the broader regional conflict, raising severe security concerns for international shipping operators and impacting global supply chains.
