Saudi Arabia has condemned the latest Houthi attacks on its southern regions, saying the militia’s actions threaten civilians, economic infrastructure and international maritime navigation.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the attacks targeted Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran and injured 73 people, including women and children.
Riyadh also condemned continued attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, saying they threaten freedom of international navigation and regional security.
The coalition’s official spokesman, Major General Turki Al-Malki, described the attacks as a dangerous escalation and said the hostile approach would be met with a firm response.
The developments have pushed Saudi security and energy infrastructure back into the centre of international attention.
They also come at a sensitive time for oil markets. Brent crude rose to around $97 a barrel on Monday as investors assessed the risk of further disruption to Gulf energy exports.
