At least 73 people were injured after a series of Houthi attacks targeted civilian and economic sites in southern Saudi Arabia, Saudi authorities said on Tuesday.
The attacks affected areas including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, according to Saudi officials.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy also confirmed that fires broke out at several energy facilities following the attacks, temporarily disrupting operations.
The Saudi-led coalition described the attacks as a dangerous escalation and accused the Iran-backed Houthi militia of deliberately targeting civilian areas and national economic infrastructure.
Saudi Arabia said the attacks also included continued targeting of commercial vessels in the Red Sea and restrictions on international maritime navigation.
The escalation comes as fighting involving the Houthis has intensified following the breakdown of a years-long truce in Yemen.
The latest attacks are likely to be closely watched by global energy markets because any sustained disruption to Saudi production or shipping routes could quickly affect oil prices and freight costs.
