Civilians abandon homes as Yemen fighting leaves more than 300 dead

Heavy fighting between Yemeni government forces and Houthi rebels in the southwest Taiz governorate has left more than 300 combatants dead, forcing hundreds of families to abandon their homes.

The renewed violence marks the deadliest escalation in the country since a long-standing ceasefire collapsed, with clashes centering around a strategic gateway to the Red Sea.
