Explosion reported near oil tanker off the coast of Oman, crew safe

An explosion was reported in close proximity to a commercial tanker off the coast of Oman on Sunday, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The incident took place approximately 20 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman.

The UKMTO confirmed that the vessel and all crew members remain safe. Maritime authorities have launched a formal investigation into the event, and vessels transiting the highly strategic Strait of Hormuz area have been advised to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activities.
