UAE and GCC strongly condemn Houthi threats of maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia

The United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have issued powerful condemnations of recent statements by Yemen’s Houthi militia threatening to impose a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the international community to enforce UN Security Council Resolutions 2216 and 2722 to guarantee the freedom of navigation.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi denounced the threats as a desperate attempt to escalate regional chaos. He reiterated that the security of international waterways is a fundamental pillar of global economic stability and reaffirmed the GCC’s full solidarity with the Kingdom’s sovereign defense measures.
