The Royal Oman Air Force has conducted an emergency medical evacuation of crew members from a commercial tanker after it was attacked and caught fire off the Omani coast.

The Panama-flagged vessel, identified as the ON PEACE, was targeted approximately nine nautical miles northeast of Lima in the Musandam Governorate. Omani authorities confirmed that an air force operation successfully airlifted 10 injured crew members to Khasab Hospital to receive urgent medical treatment, sharing video footage of the dramatic rescue.

Following the incident, India’s Ministry of External Affairs revealed additional details, stating that the vessel was carrying a 19-member crew, which included 17 Indian nationals. According to the ministry, 12 crew members were injured in the Strait of Hormuz attack, 11 of whom are Indian. India has called for an immediate end to such attacks to protect seafarers and commercial shipping.

The incident underscores escalating maritime tensions in the vital Strait of Hormuz, where both Iranian forces and a US counter-blockade have been actively operating and intercepting commercial vessels.
