Kuwait introduces sweeping cooperative sector reforms to enhance governance and transparency

Kuwait has launched a major overhaul of its cooperative sector with the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No. 196 of 2026. The new framework introduces a unified electronic platform to manage all cooperative procedures—including tenders, supplier services, and contracts—to boost operational efficiency and protect public and shareholder funds.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the new system aims to standardize processes and tighten oversight, requiring board meetings to be video-recorded to ensure accountability and fairness across all commercial transactions.
