The Sultanate of Oman and Japan have jointly emphasized the critical need for a political solution and a final agreement to de-escalate ongoing tensions in the Middle East region.
During a joint press conference held in Muscat on August 20, 2026, Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Motegi Toshimitsu highlighted the importance of intensifying international efforts. The ministers stressed ensuring freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with international law, and guaranteeing the secure flow of energy supplies and trade.
