Qatar expands national service eligibility to expat residents offering pathway to permanent residency

The Qatari Ministry of Defense has officially expanded eligibility for its national service programme to include non-Qatari residents born in the country and children of Qatari mothers. Under the newly issued regulations, applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid Qatari residency permit, and pass a medical examination. Eligible expatriate graduates who complete the programme will receive priority recruitment into the Qatar Armed Forces, alongside a potential pathway to acquiring permanent residency status. This landmark decision marks a significant shift in integrating long-term expatriate communities into national development frameworks.
